Joker is an American thriller film that was released in the year 2019. The movie is based on the DC character played by Joaquin Phoenix. There is no doubt about saying that the film was a great hit as it had a different concept of the storyline along with great acting. Besides this, debates are going on amongst the audience if they’ll see the character on-screen once again or not.
The lead of the movie Joaquin also won an Oscar, and a sequel must be released shortly. Not only this, but the film also collected over 1 billion dollars, worldwide making it to the sixth highest-grossing film of 2019. The film also got nominated for 11 other categories including the best picture and best director.
The idea besides creating such a masterpiece arrived when Joaquin Phoenix discussed his interest in working in a ‘character study’ type of a film. When he was offered the role finally, he was very excited and ready to commit to the role. “It is a unique character and not a studio movie,” he said.
Apart from Joaquin, other cast members were Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, Marc Maron, and Zazie Beetz, who appeared as the supporting roles.
The movie revolves around a failed clown who roams around the streets of Gotham. He suffers through mental issues and laughing uncontrollably is a part of the same. All he wants is to be accepted by others, but each time only sadness and loneliness follows him. Arthur has two masks, the one he paints for his day job, while the other he put on to feel a part of the society. After facing the brutality, beating, and bullying from the world, his madness pushes him towards violence and criminal activities.
The depiction of the character on-screen and giving life to it has gained a lot of appreciation all over the world. Even if there is the slightest chance of a sequel to come out, there is no possibility of the actor being replaced. There are no official announcements made regarding the same, but the team is carrying out discussions about its sequel.
There is another good reason for a sequel to be made, that is the conclusion of the movie ‘Joker.’ The film ended with him being chased around the asylum after he killed the psychiatrist. What after that? Is there a chance of him escaping from the hospital? Nobody knows.
